Arms Competition Of Horsepower Is On With 2013 Ford Shelby GT Mustang

In the past few years, American car manufacturers have seen a rebirth of sorts for some of their clas-sic automobiles, resuscitating vintage cars with new attributes. They've also start-ed an arms competition for horsepower, packing the current street rods with dizzying levels of power. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT Mustang will generate 650 horsepower and reach 200 miles per hour.

Ford's mustang a great purchase

America's "Big Three" car manufacturers, Ford, GM and Chrysler, seem to have started an arms contest with horsepower. The corporations all have automobiles that have a ton of horsepower, just like Italian cars have.

Ford, as reported by AutoBlog, recently released some specifics on the Shelby GT model of the 2013 Ford Mustang. A 5.8-liter 650-horsepower motor will be found in the vehicle. This is a change from the 2012 model which had a 5.4-liter motor. You can go over 200 miles per hour guaranteed by Ford. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, by contrast, produces slightly less horsepower and costs $300,000 more, as reported by Road and Track.

As reported by USA Today, Ford engineers made some tweaks and noticed the brand new motor was easily reaching 155 miles per hour, which the previous Shelby GT was limited to, so they received rid of the limiter. The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will have the production model at it.

Adjustments to the Mustang

The splitter and air intake vents will be altered in all 2013 Ford Mustangs. All of them will also have a glossy back panel. High-intensity headlamps will be put on all models. There will be different opportunities accessible based on the model of automobile being offered although there will be brand new suspension packages. Brembo brakes will also be available on some mod-els. You can get Recaro seats. Most models have this choice. The 5-liter V-8 engine found in models is less powerful than the Shelby GT, which has been boosted from 402 to 420 horsepower. The 2013 Boss 302 will get a brand new paint choice, called "School Bus Yellow" and a brand new "hockey stick" graphic on the doors, to recall the well-known 1970 "Boss" Mustang.

Automobile magazine explains that a 4.2-inch screen will be discovered in all 2013 Mustang models. This is because of the TrackApps that will be accessible. Expect to see laps, drag race times, performance stats, oil temperature, fuel-to-air mixture and fuel economy on the screen. That is what TrackApps is for.

Even more anticipated for 2014

The Shelby model is not going to be accessible until summer even though the rest of the 2013 Mustangs will be on sale in spring of 2012, USA Today explains. In 2014, the Mustang will be redesigned in 2014 even though it has needed the change for a whole. Prices aren't available for the 2013 Mustang range yet, but the base model for the 2012 Mustang starts at $22,310 and the base Shelby GT starts at $48,810, as reported by the Ford web-site.

The Camaro is the best-selling performance coupe of all automakers in the United States, which will be a hard record for Mustang to conquer. From Jan to Oct this year, 76,368 Camaros were sold, compared to 61,516 Mustangs. Even fewer individuals want the Doge challenger. There were only 33,254 of them sold.
